ITINERARY:
Day 1: The Villages ~ Alpine Helen, Georgia
Depart early morning from The Villages - 761 Hoopfer Way, Lady Lake, FL 32159. You may leave your car here.
Travel to the scenic North Georgia mountains, with planned stops along the way for rest and lunch on your own. Upon arrival, check in at Home2 Suites by Hilton, a brand-new and comfortable hotel conveniently located near the heart of Helen.
This evening, experience the magic of Alpine Village Helen, a one-of-a-kind destination modeled after a traditional Bavarian village. Nestled along the Chattahoochee River and surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains, Helen is transformed during the holiday season into a festive European-style Christmas village.
Enjoy a Welcome Reception with a light dinner before heading downtown to take in the holiday parade. Stroll through beautifully decorated streets lined with alpine-inspired architecture, specialty shops, and inviting cafés. The glow of twinkling lights, seasonal music, and the scent of holiday treats create an unforgettable small-town Christmas atmosphere. Return to the hotel on your own and enjoy the evening at leisure.
We will stop periodically for restroom/meal breaks.
Day 2 – Dahlonega & Holiday Experiences
After breakfast, depart for the historic mountain town of Dahlonega, recognized as the site of America’s first major gold rush in 1829. Centered around a beautifully preserved public square, Dahlonega offers a timeless setting filled with 19th-century architecture, locally owned shops, and a warm, welcoming charm—especially during the holiday season.
Visit the Dahlonega Gold Museum, housed in the original courthouse, where exhibits bring the region’s rich gold mining history to life. Enjoy free time to explore the downtown square, browse unique boutiques, and relax in cozy cafés surrounded by festive décor and mountain scenery.
Continue to Crisson Gold Mine, one of the area’s oldest working mines, where you’ll experience hands-on gem panning and discover the thrill of uncovering your own treasures. Then travel to a local North Georgia winery, where you can unwind and take in sweeping views of the rolling foothills and vineyards.
Return to Helen for time at leisure. We will stop at Nora Mill Granary on our way into town, a historic grist mill that has been operating for over a century. Enjoy additional time exploring Helen’s lively downtown filled with shops, bakeries, and restaurants. Dinner is on your own this evening.
Day 3 – Return Home
After breakfast, depart for home with comfort stops along the way. Reflect on a memorable holiday getaway filled with festive charm, scenic mountain landscapes, and the unique character of two of North Georgia’s most beloved destinations.
