Amelia Island is treasured for her long stretches of quiet beach, natural beauty, unique history and charming seaport character. Join us for a 2 night mini getaway to this unique place during one of their most exciting times of year- Shrimpfest!

Accommodations: Two Nights at the Hampton Inn & Suites Historic Harbor Front by Hilton- Located in downtown Amelia Island, overlooking the Fernandina Beach Marina. The hotel is within walking distance of over 50 shops, bars, and restaurants. Enjoy hot breakfast(included), free WiFi, and the outdoor pool.

Amelia Island will be holding their annual Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival at this time which offers boatloads of fresh seafood and shrimp dishes, all prepared by local non-profit and civic organizations. The Festival’s Fine Arts and Crafts show offers more than 300 award-winning artists and craftspeople, including jewelry, photography, pottery and much more. Browse through 75 booths of Antiques and Collectibles. Live Music on two stages, contests, and Pirates to entertain you. Watch from the marina as the decorated Shrimp Boats glide the Amelia River. Enjoy the eclectic assortment of retail shops, pubs and restaurants that call Amelia Island home.

Itinerary:

Friday, May 2:

8:15 am- Depart 761 Hoopfer Way - you may leave your car here.

We will stop for a restroom/snack break. You are welcome to bring small coolers, snacks etc. on the bus.

Upon arrival in Amelia Island, we will visit Fernandina Beach where you can choose to dine at one of these restaurants:

After lunch, we will enjoy a boat tour.

2:00-3:30 pm- Cumberland Coastal Boat Tour - (1.5 hours) This tour offers an extensive and rich history of Amelia and Cumberland Island with views of wildlife along the way. We will cruise by Fernandina’s shrimp boats, historic Old Towne and Ft. Clinch to the wild horses of Cumberland Island. Historians will share the colorful stories that define the character of this unique part of the world.

Cold water is available on board for a $1 donation. There is no fee to bring your own food and beverages.

After our tour, we will check in to the hotel and enjoy the remainder of the evening on your own. Suggestions will be given.

Saturday, May 3:

6:00-9:30 am- Enjoy breakfast at the hotel

Spend the day at your leisure. Enjoy the Shrimp festival!

Sunday, May 4:

6:00-10:00 am- Enjoy breakfast at the hotel at your leisure

1:15 pm- Decorated Shrimp Boat Parade (optional) We will depart after, at 2:30 pm.

Arrive home in the early evening.

  • Walk around Historic Downtown Fernandina Beach - this area is full of eclectic and independent shops that stretch from the harbor-front to down and around Centre Street. There are many delicious places to dine in the historic district.

Workman Transportation uses their own deluxe motor coaches. They are driven by drivers certified and licensed for motor coach transportation. Our motor coaches are air conditioned, equipped with Wi-Fi, video monitors, on-board restroom, and reclining seats.

Our hosts are experienced and will help make your trip enjoyable. They will give you lots of information along the way to make the traveling time fun and interesting. We will strive to keep you comfortable by having rest stops every two to two and 1/2 hours in the schedule.

All tours require some walking and the ability to embark/disembark a motor-coach without assistance. Advance notice is required for special dietary requests and handicap seating.

Prices are per person. Rates and space are subject to availability. A minimum number of people is required for the trip to commence.
