Itinerary:

Day 1:  The Villages ~ Smithfield, NC

Depart aboard a deluxe highway coach for Smithfield, NC.  Rest and meal stops will be made periodically.  Gather for dinner at a local restaurant before arriving at our hotel, the Hampton Inn Smithfield. (Dinner Included)

Day 2:  Norfolk, VA ~ Norfolk Naval Cruise ~ Virginia International Tattoo:

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel and then travel to Norfolk, Virginia, home of Naval Station Norfolk, the world’s largest naval base.  Embark on a delightful luncheon cruise down the Elizabeth River to catch unparallel views of the Navy’s impressive Atlantic Fleet which features naval destroyers, submarines and other vessels.  Later today we attend one of the most impressive and patriotic military marching band performances in the world, known as the Virginia International Tattoo.  The event features an incredible international cast of more than 800 performers from seven nations, with bands from the U.S. Army, Navy and Marine Corps. Overnight at the Hampton Inn Norfolk Naval Base. (Breakfast & Lunch included)

Day 3: Outer Banks ~ Whalehead Club Mansion ~ Wild Horse Safari ~ Nags Head, NC:

Today after breakfast we journey out to the beautiful Outer Banks, a 130-mile stretch of wide-open shoreline on a chain of barrier islands just off the coast of North Carolina.  Enjoy a guided tour of the historic Whalehead Club Mansion followed by free time for lunch and shopping in the quaint town of Currituck Village. 

Later this afternoon we embark on a wild horse safari in a 4WD vehicle along an 11-mile-long remote area to see the Wild Spanish Mustangs of Carova.  These horses have survived for centuries on the barrier island.

Then we travel south to Nags Head for a delightful two-night stay at the Holiday Inn Express Nags Head Beachfront. Gather for dinner at a local restaurant. (Breakfast & Dinner included)

Day 4:  Outer Banks Scenic Highway ~ Cape Hatteras Lighthouse ~ Museum of the Sea ~ Jockey Ridge State Park:

After breakfast we explore the lovely Outer Banks Scenic Highway which features massive sand dunes, beautiful beaches, historic lighthouses and breathtaking vistas.  Enjoy a stop at legendary Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, tallest brick beacon on the American coast, rising over 200 feet high.  Also located on the grounds is the Museum of the Sea, dedicated to preserving and interpreting the rich maritime history of the Outer Banks. 

Following a lunch break in the quaint town of Buxton, visit Jockey Ridge State Park, home to the tallest active sand dune system in the eastern United States.   Return to Nags Head for dinner at a local restaurant and a leisurely evening. (Breakfast & Dinner included)

Day 5:  Wright Brothers National Memorial ~ Fayetteville, NC:

This morning after breakfast we visit the Wright Brothers National Memorial, located in the heart of Kill Devil Hills.  It was here on December 17, 1903, Wilbur and Orville Wright changed the world forever as their powered airplane, the “Wright Flyer”, skimmed over the sands of the Outer Banks for 12 seconds before returning to the ground.  Later this afternoon we leave the Outer Banks and travel to Fayetteville for the final overnight at the Holiday Inn Express. (Breakfast included)

Day 6:  Fayetteville ~ Journey Home:  After breakfast we begin our journey home.  Rest and meal stops will be made periodically. (Breakfast included)

Meet & Greet: TBA- at Wildwood Community Center

Workman Transportation uses their own deluxe motor coaches. They are driven by drivers certified and licensed for motor coach transportation. Our motor coaches are air conditioned, equipped with Wi-Fi, video monitors, on-board restroom, and reclining seats.

Our hosts are experienced and will help make your trip enjoyable. They will give you lots of information along the way to make the traveling time fun and interesting. We will strive to keep you comfortable by having rest stops every two to two and 1/2 hours in the schedule.

All tours require some walking and the ability to embark/disembark a motor-coach without assistance. Advance notice is required for special dietary requests and handicap seating.

Prices are per person. Rates and space are subject to availability. A minimum number of people is required for the trip to commence.
