This evening is at leisure, with the option to enjoy dinner on your own in Downtown Lancaster or relax with convenient dining options at the hotel.
Day 3: Amish Country & Sight & Sound Theatre
Today offers an immersive look into the traditions and daily life of the Amish community. We begin at Plain & Fancy Farms with Jacob’s Choice, a thoughtful film that introduces Amish beliefs and values through a personal story. This is followed by a guided visit to an authentic Amish home and one-room schoolhouse, offering insight into Amish family life, education, and traditions. A narrated countryside tour then takes us through the picturesque farmlands of Lancaster County, where we observe working farms and learn about time-honored practices such as quilt-making, butter churning, and dairy farming.
A highlight of the day is a traditional Amish home-cooked meal served inside a private Amish home, featuring hearty, family-style dishes prepared from scratch and enjoyed in a warm, welcoming setting that reflects the simplicity and hospitality of Amish culture.
Later, we attend a matinee performance at Sight & Sound Theatres, where the biblical story of Joshua comes to life on a massive stage with impressive sets, live animals, and powerful storytelling. The evening concludes with dinner at the popular Hershey Farm Restaurant (or similar) before returning to our hotel.
Day 4: Gettysburg: A Turning Point in History
This morning, we travel to Gettysburg, one of the most significant historic sites in American history. Our visit includes the peaceful Soldier’s National Cemetery and the Gettysburg Address Memorial, offering time for reflection and remembrance. Enjoy free time in downtown Gettysburg, where charming shops, historic buildings, and lunch options are plentiful.
The afternoon brings history vividly to life with a visit to the museum, film, and Cyclorama, followed by a guided battlefield tour led by a licensed guide who shares the stories and context that shaped this pivotal battle. Dinner this evening is included at the historic Dobbin House Tavern, known for its welcoming atmosphere and classic American cuisine, before returning to Lancaster.
Day 5: Lancaster Favorites & Musical Theatre
We begin the day at Kitchen Kettle Village, a favorite stop in Amish Country featuring specialty shops, local foods, and handcrafted items. Enjoy lunch on your own at one of the village cafés, known for fresh, comforting fare. We then visit the Julius Sturgis Pretzel Bakery, the oldest commercial pretzel bakery in the country, where a guided tour shares the history of pretzel baking in America.
Later, enjoy a visit to Hershey’s Chocolate World followed by a guided Hershey Trolley Tour, which offers an engaging look at Milton Hershey’s legacy and the community he built. This evening features dinner and a Broadway-style production at the Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre. Pretty Woman the Musical is a modern Cinderella tale following a businessman who hires an escort to spend the weekend with him. As the weekend unfolds, the two embark on an unexpected journey of self-discovery and find true love along the way. If you love the movie, you’ll love the musical!
Day 6: Baltimore Rail History & Journey South
